Miguel Zafra is an Indigenous photographer from the Mixtec region of Oaxaca, Mexico. For the past 15 years, Zafra has been documenting people and nature with his charged mixture of fine art photography and photojournalism.
Zafra has worked as an independent photojournalist for El Andar and other publications. His photographs have been featured in France's Geo Magazine, and on the cover of two anthropology books. The U.S. Library of Congress holds two of Zafra’s photographs in their permanent collection.
Zafra has exhibited widely in California, at the State Capitol Building in Sacramento, as well as in Fresno, Davis, Oakland and Santa Cruz. His work was featured in an exhibit of Mexican Indigenous photography at Parc de la Villette in Paris, France. This collection was also exhibited in Museo de la Ciudad, Mexico City.
